What is the Best Juicer for Greens?

If you’ve been doing research on juicers, you already know that there isn’t ONE BEST JUICER for everything. Some juicers excel in juicing fruits and vegetables combined, while others can even make nut butters and baby foods. We are going to look at the very best juicer for greens. I will give you a few options due to the price range you may be considering.

1) Green Star Elite

The Green Star Elite is by far the best juicer for greens that is not over $2,000. Some even say that it is better quality juice than the $2,500 Norwalk Juicer and the Green Star Elite is about 1/5th the price. The GSE was manufactured specially to get the most nutritious juice with the highest yield out of green veggies (One couldn’t guess by the name right? The GREEN star elite =D)

The Green Star Elite is also further advanced than the older Norwalk. The GSE was released to the public at 2009 and the Norwalk juicer was released over 75 years ago. The video below explains in detail the comparison between the GSE, the Norwalk and the Omega 8004. The biggest difference between the models is the extraction method. Read more about the Green Star Elite’s extraction method here.

If you are not convinced that these juicers are more effective, look the the lab tests between centrifugal juicers and the Norwalk. The Calcium is 5X more, the Iron is 3X more and the Potassium is almost 4X more. That is not opinion but lab test results. So, if you are open to paying $2,500 for a juicer, then the Norwalk juicer is physically tested to be of very high quality and will give you slight more yield than the GSE. But I am not ranking it as the best juicer for greens because of it’s astronomical price.

2) Omega NC800 HDS

The Omega NC800 is the latest horizontal auger juicer from Omega. It has been proved in many tests and “juice offs” that these style juicers are much better than Vertical Auger juicers and much better than Centrifugal-style juicers when juicing greens. That being said, this model is the latest which has a significantly larger feed shoot, a 25% larger screen area and an adjustable setting for the amount of pulp released. Compared to the Omega 8004 the NC800 gets about 25% more yield according to juice tests.

Another great feature of the Omega NC800 is how easy it is to clean. It can be cleaned in about 1 1/2 minutes once you get fast. That means it is very practical for very frequent juice. You can use it three times a day and the total cleaning time would be less than 5 minutes!

If you do not like getting a lot of foam in your juice, then you will probably be very pleased with this juicer. It produces much less foam than the Omega VRT, the SlowStar or pretty much any other juicer on juicing vegetables.

Is it worth it?

There are many complaints from owners of Vertical Auger Juicers and Centrifugal juicers when it comes to leafy greens. On the Vertical Juicers the leafy greens get stuck in them, sometimes causing the machine to stop and be forced to go into “reverse mode” to unclog the leaves. Considering the Omega VRT costs about the same as the Omega NC800, the choice is really a no brainer when it comes to juicing vegetables and some fruits.

When compared to a Centrifugal juicer which is about 1/3 the price, the Green Star Elite (or the Omega 8006) will actually pay off because the Green Star Elite can get almost DOUBLE the yield as you can see in the video below. Literally with the same amount of produce you can get 80% more yield with much less foam.
